Where it starts
Good hash is decided long before anything gets washed. It's decided by what goes into the freezer. A plant that was stressed, underfed or cut a week late will never wash well, and no amount of technique downstream will rescue it.
Ohio lets a household run twelve plants. That ceiling is the whole strategy here, not a limitation. Twelve is few enough that every one of them gets looked at, topped by hand, and taken to the end of its run instead of being pulled early to make room for the next cycle. Nobody doing volume can afford that.
Why it stays small
Ohio legalized adult use with Issue 2 in November 2023. Under Ohio Revised Code 3796.04, an adult 21 or over may cultivate up to six plants, twelve to a household where two or more adults live. It has to be grown in a secured, enclosed area, out of sight from anywhere public.
The same law that permits growing it prohibits selling it. Homegrown cannabis cannot be sold or profited from, and cannot be grown on another person's behalf. So nothing here is for sale and nothing here ever will be. This is a record of a craft, not a storefront.
From the cut to the jar
Solventless is a subtraction process. Every step exists to remove something without bruising what's left. Heat, oxygen and time are the three enemies, in that order.
Whole plant straight off the line into the freezer. No dry, no trim. The trichome heads stay brittle instead of going gummy.
Gentle agitation in ice water, then graded down through the bags. The 73 and 90 fractions are the ones worth pressing.
Sublimated cold rather than air dried. Water leaves, terpenes stay, and the hash never gets warm enough to degrade.
Low and slow in rosin bags. Pressed too hot it pours fast and tastes like nothing, so it comes out slow.
Days in the jar, worked cold, until it turns from a sheet of sap into budder that holds its terps on a rig.
Nothing leaves the room until it's right.
What comes out
Blonde, whipped, and stable at room temperature. It should smell like the plant did in week eight, not like a candle. If it's dark, it ran too hot. If it's flat, it sat too long.
Six star or it goes back to flower. No pressing hash that leaves a ring.
Terps that survive a week in the jar, not just the first pull off the press.
